About our anthology

We plan to keep you updated with our progress with this blog. We expect to provide at least monthly updates between now and the release date.

For now, here’s the tale of how we started.

Once upon a time there was an email conversation.

One side of that conversation was interested in an LGBTQ-themed anthology for her new publishing venture. On the other side, an author from the that community wanted to do an anthology that featured updated and re-imagined versions of classic folk tales. The author even had a story, based on the Tinder Box, ready to go.

After several back-and-forth exchanges, we wound up with this anthology. We’re interested in the unusual, and don’t want to restrict ourselves to classic tales from the Western canon. We’re even open to urban legends which are, after all, modern folk tales. We’re eager to see what kind of creative juices this inspires.

The publisher has also committed that a portion of the net proceeds from this anthology will go to a non-profit that supports the LGBTQ community. We are still searching for an appropriate organization and would prefer one that included literacy in its mission. Stay tuned!

Meantime, we’re looking forward to reading your submissions.

Your editor,

Max
